Spend Less for Beauty Products

Save money at discount stores lotions, soaps and face creams

Beauty junkies beware, that luxurious face cream or enormous bar of soap doesn’t come cheap. Stay on a budget and indulge too by learning my discount shopping trick.

If you’re a beauty junky, you probably don’t want to add up the amount you spend each year on beauty products. It’s especially scary when some of those products you try turn out to be so disappointing you don’t want to use them anymore. Beauty isn’t cheap, unless you’re in on my little secret.

Discount stores are filled with designer clothes, shoes and housewares, but a lot of women don’t take advantage of the beauty sections. Granted, they’re usually small, and tossed in between purses and socks so you might overlook them, but they are filled with money-saving treasures for product lovers. I have found Molton Brown (a favorite of mine) face cream for less than $10, alongside Elizabeth Arden products priced equally cheap.

The thing I really love to buy there is soap and body cream. Big bars of French or Italian-made bath soap in wonderful scents like mint grapefruit or mango lavender are $5. A soap like that in a boutique would easily cost $25. I have to drive a little ways to get to one, but when I do, I push my cart right over to the beauty aisle and stock up.

One word of caution: don’t get hooked on something you buy there because chances are you won’t be able to find it again. It’s a great way to try a new product line without paying full price, and if you just have to have more, you can hunt it down online or in a local shop. Just prepare yourself for sticker shock.
