What do you consider when picking products?   If you have allergies or seriously sensitive skin, that may be your first consideration.  If you don’t have those issues, most likely you are looking at the price tag early on in the decision making process. 

Some products are just too  far out of reach to even bother looking at.  I love Dr. Perricone’s line, but a $500+ price tag is just too much to even bother with.  I have his cleanser and have used the supplements in the past which I really liked but with 3 college educations to save for, $500+ is out of my league.   There are lots of products I’d like and I’m sure work better than cheaper choices.

So, what’s a girl to do? there’s only one way to balance our posh desires with financial responsibility… Picking reasonably priced products in our beauty repertoire!  Save where you can, for some it will be on mascara, on others it will be on moisturizers, nail polish or (insert your idea)  then splurge on one or two items.

Another way to save is with a signature product, for me,  it’s my fragrance, morning, noon and night I’m wearing Chanel Gardenia.  This one step saves me time and money, not to mention the dusty clutter of lots of perfume bottles.   I just can’t imagine wearing anything else AND it has the added benefit of a nice collection (I’m up to 6) of the same bottle.

I have to admit, I’m done with Benefit cosmetics.  When I first saw them, I loved the look of the pinup girls and pinks.   I had my face done once and bought a face cream I didn’t care for.  Then I bought the Bathina stuff from Sephora because it looked so cute but was disapointed by it!  Benefit products definately look better in the box than they look/feel on me!  I don’t know what it is, just cannot get into their products.  It’s to the point that I steer TOTALLY clear of their counter because the look of the products is what gets you, not the quality.  When do you give up on a brand?

  A while back I bought Stainiac from Sephora.com  I remember using it a few times but TOTALLY forgot about it for the past 3 months at least. 

I just found it in my husband’s medicine cabinet! What the heck has he been doing?@>!!  Anyway, I am back in love with it, it’s back in my make-up bag (my favorite one that is) ready for use! 

Girl2004 is into me putting make up on her, I’ve tried giving her a chapstick but she keeps losing it, so the past two days I’ve been putting this on her to blush her cheeks and stain her lips.  I really like when I can use one product for two things like that, it’s a good value @ $14 and very practical to use.

Our environment is the best way to ensure our health, if we live in a mold infested or toxic environment there is no way we can be healthy.  It is important to support businesses that feel the same way and take care of the environment, making real efforts to reduce the waste and exhausts.  Some times it is cheaper to go with a less environmental friendly choice but in the long run we will all pay a higher price.  We will pay through our health care, our life expectancy and our quality of life.  It’s not too late to support business that are progressing towards better stewardship of our environment. Environmental Health and Safety, EHS, products are needed, there is a company that is selling these types of products to big businesses EHS Metrics Software is one of them that helps companies comply with government regulations.

I’ve decided if I’m going to do this, I’ve GOT to use my prized samples!  Yes, you read correctly, I am a stingy sample hoarder.  I have some samples that I’ve had for a year or more that I do not use, just look at occasionally.  why?  I’m not sure, but is comforting to know I’ve got a little back-up product in times of hardship!

A while back, Sephora had a promotion, if you bought something, you got a cute little black doctor’s bag from N.V. Perricone with several different samples.  I tried all of them, except one, and loved them!  They worked so well and did just what they were supposed to.   So well in fact, I was obsessed with the brand and products!

I went on to buy the Perricone vitamins which are wonderful, easy to swallow and don’t make you gag BUT they are not cheap!

I also bought the Perricone Promise book which I followed the diet and lost 8 pounds fairly quickly.  If you like salmon, the food is delicious and easy to prepare, but of course, you need to get off your tuffet and get to the supermarket every few days for the vegetables… with kids in tow, that’s not always so easy… and it was abandoned. (I will resume this diet shortly)

So, after a little hesitation yesterday morning, I opened my 2ml packet sample of Amine Complex Face Lift with NTP Complex and DMAE. On the back of the packet it is described as, “A unique daily facial treatment that unites revitalizing antioxidant Vitamin C Ester and NTP Complex to help uplift and improve the appearance of skin tone.”

It is wonderful! It went on just right, not greasy or runny.  The perfect start for my day.  It goes on with a slight tingle and really made my skin look good and fresh.  That’s what I’m really looking for in a product, that fresh feeling that I’ve got nothing to hide, if I wanted to go without make up, I could because my skin looks so good.

If you haven’t tried this brand, it is a must. I have nothing negative to say about them.

My very first time reviewing a product was for http://www.drugstore.com many years ago (2001?)… they used to call them “testdrives” and you had to catch it on the website and click on it quickly to secure your spot.  As you can imagine, the spots would fill up quickly!

One day I was blessed and clicked on the product just in time… it was a foot creme from Peter Thomas Roth RV of $40.  I was so excited, I conscientiously used the foot creme and wrote my review excitedly.

I guess they loved my review so much they discontinued the program shortly after!  Just kidding, I don’t know when it was over, but it didn’t last long after that. 

I don’t know if the review is still available but as you can see, I still remember it!
